The proposal was for a growing family needing more living space for their children. We had to convert the roof space into a living space.
We calculated the usable roof area and checked the existing roof framework to determine how much space we had to work with and the dynamics involved. We added a stairway leading up the loft and examined the joists and foundation to ensure they were strong enough to carry the extra weight of the new room. We had to install new joists and flooring to accommodate the new living space. To lighten up the living space and provide better outdoor access, we added opening rooflights. There is also LED recessed lighting in the new space to give a streamlined finish to the room and provide efficient lighting. We added a closet with a French door for clothing storage in the room.
